“I crossed the finish line yesterday. It was a fictitious one – not the kind you actually cross over. It was more of a mental one. And it felt great.”
“You see, until 5 months ago, I had a lot of “I cant’s” because of bone-on-bone arthritis in my knee. Want to play tennis? I can’t run side to side. Want to go to a spin class? I can’t do up downs. Want to walk around the block? Stand up quickly and gracefully out of a chair? I can’t. I can’t. I can’t. You get the picture. I viewed the world from the perspective of what I couldn’t do.”
“I fought a good fight. I was lucky enough to find Andrew Walters, and he used a combination of strength training and Muscle Activation Technique, or MAT, to get me strong and fit prior to knee replacement surgery. What I thought was the end of my journey, was only the beginning, and Andrew was right there with me to help in my recovery after my total knee replacement. I wish that I could say that the journey since then has been easy and pain-free. It has not. It took a lot of work, Advil and a team of cheerleaders and coaches to get me to the point where “I can’t” no longer applies. There were days when I wondered if it was worth it. Sleepless nights due to pain and discomfort. Worries about taking pain medication.*”
“Last week I broke through an imaginary barrier and finally feel like I am on the “other side.” I had two great workouts with Andrew! No more Advil during the day! Running up and down steps without thinking! I even went to a spin class with my husband! As I looked around at my fellow spinners, I was moved by the different shapes and sizes and abilities. Everyone in that class got up early on a Saturday and gave their all to bike up imaginary mountains and win the race to nowhere in particular. When I started the class, I figured I might make 30 minutes. 30 became 40, then before you know it the hour was over. I did it!! We all did it.”
“I’ve learned a lot about myself and life throughout this journey. I learned that scars are “warrior wounds” to be proud of. I learned that I am stronger – in spirit and physical aptitude – than I everthought I was . I learned that setbacks can make you evaluate your approach and try a new strategy. I learned that having a team of people to get you through the tough days and to celebrate the little victories means everything. I learned that there is great reward in doing something you didn’t think you could do. Even if it’s as simple as a spin class or getting out of a chair.”
“One last thing. I can’t say enough about Andrew and the support he has provided to me and every member of my family. Whether you’re a high school athlete or an active retiree, Andrew will tailor a fitness plan to help you achieve your goals. He has the unique expertise to “break you down” with strength training and “put you back together” with MAT. I have worked with Andrew every Tuesday and Thursday for the past 3-1/2 years – and I can’t think of a better way to start my days.” -Sue S. Rocky River -

“For a few years now I have been seeing Andrew on a weekly basis. A chiropractor recommended him to me, as she felt he could help me progress after hip surgery being mindful of my having spinal stenosis.”
“Andrew has been an enormous help using MAT. He has been able to activate muscles again that simply were not working; making it possible to turn, for example, when the hips wouldn't budge.
Over the years I have seen several personal trainers. Andrew has been the best. He takes care of me the most, making sure I am doing the exercises properly, with the limitations I have.
He is very patient and thorough, providing a safe environment where I can feel at ease.” -

“Where to even start. I’ve suffered for years with low back pain, I’ve been in & out of physical therapy for years, seen chiropractors, & even went to orthopedic docs in the area. Physical therapy & chiropractic only took me so far, & the only options from the orthopedist was surgery or pain pills(which I wanted nothing to do with if I could help it).
“Andrew approached things completely different than the others, he took the time to listen to me & actually hear me, & everything that I had been through. He took me through a range of motion evaluation, and wouldn’t you know, my back moved just fine, my hips however, were barely moving. Strangely, when I moved my hips in a certain motion I would get shooting pain in my lower back. Andrew explained to me that possibly my low back was picking up the slack for the lack of motion I had in my hips. After the first MAT session, he told me, I wasn’t going to notice too big of a difference because he wanted to be cautious knowing my history (he was right), but by the end second & third sessions, Wow! My low back pain was going, going, gone! It brought me to tears. I was doing activities that I love, which I haven’t done in years, & most importantly, getting down on the ground, playing with my grandkids & not needing help to get back up off the ground, or suffering the next day with excruciating back pain.” -

I have been working with Andrew for over 8 years now. I started with him as a personal fitness client through another company. Andrew has always listened to me when it comes to my limitations with my knees due to early Juvenile Arthritis. I have worked with him while he started his educational journey with M.A.T. After working with Andrew since his further education my mobility has increased and my quality of life is so much better. I am an avid cyclist in the warmer months and without him I don’t know where I would be! Andrew has a wide range of availability. Not just a 9-5 like most. His work atmosphere is always clean. He is always looking for better equipment to widen his workable capabilities with his clients. I cannot recommend a better personal fitness and physical therapy coach. You definitely get what you pay for.
